Massive forest fire breaks out in Sonamarg | KNO

Ganderbal, Jun 11 (KNO): A massive forest fire broke out at Fishpoint Sonamarg in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Wednesday. Locals told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the fire broke out this evening and has spread to a vast area. “Fire erupted in the forest compartment 63,” they informed. Meanwhile, the locals said that massive fire has caused extensive damage to the forest area, adding that the fire has spread to a vast area. The officials, however, said after receiving the information, a team of officials and fire-fighters was sent to the spot and they are trying to douse the flames. However, forest officials along with local residents are actively working on the ground to control the forest fire. Efforts are underway to prevent the flames from spreading further, with teams using traditional methods as well as available firefighting equipment to contain the blaze, the official said—(KNO)
